If you are hungry and need emergency food: Please call LINK at (703) 437-1776. A Food Coordinator will call you back.
LINK is an interdenominational coalition of 16 churches in the
Sterling/Herndon area. The organization runs a food pantry and makes
deliveries to clients in need in the surrounding areas. Each member
church is assigned a month to be responsible for food
deliveries to clients, and is also assigned a month to stock the
pantry. LINK also sponsors a holiday food basket program for
Thanksgiving and Christmas; the program provides food for families in
need during the holiday season.
LINK recently started a monthly Mobile Food Pantry the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 3pm to 6pm at Christ the Redeemer parking lot where those in need can come and
receive fresh produce and other nonperishable food items. Volunteers are needed to ensure the success of this program.
In
an effort to get food in the hands of those in need, LINK now “rescues”
individually packaged food that would otherwise go to waste in several
of our local elementary schools.
Volunteers are needed to help pick up the food from the schools and
take it to the Pantry for distribution.
For more information on LINK activities, volunteer opportunities and current pantry needs, visit
www.linkagainsthunger.org.
All donations are welcome, but specific needs at the pantry include:
soup, dried or canned beans, jelly, canned meat, rice, Hamburger or Tuna Helper, pasta, cereal, oatmeal, toilet paper, paper towels, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, deodorant,
and diapers (any size).
